Our top three resorts for a short ski break: Champoluc, Flaine and Mayrhofen
Have you already had a week’s skiing holiday and can’t wait to get out on the slopes again? Worried about taking too much time off work or spending too much money? Or perhaps you want to experience a Bridget-Jones style weekend ski getaway?
Ultimately, we all need a holiday (sometimes even a few!), but sometimes we may struggle to take the time off work for a full week. Perhaps we’ve already been away for a couple of weeks and can’t take another full week off work? Or perhaps we’d like to get away for a break but would also like a few days at home to spring clean, potter in the garden and generally get things done before we return to the rat run.
Here at Snowfinders, we’ve got the perfect answer to getting a quick ski break into your year thanks to the following top three destinations that are simply superb for a short break.
Champoluc, Italy
You really could not ask for a better location offered by the De Champoluc. You certainly won’t waste any ski-time on your short break! Set at the skiers’ end of the village, at the foot of the home piste runs, it is practically situated in a ski-in, ski-out location.
What’s more, you won’t waste any time hiring your skis as the ski shop is right next door.
In addition, the hotel features a range of facilities including a lounge bar, dining room, en-suite bedrooms (with free Wi-Fi and Sky TV), a games room with a pool table and table tennis, as well as a small spa area with a free sauna and a steam room. Therefore, all you need to do is find the time (when you’re not skiing, of course!) to enjoy these luxuries on your short break.
Flaine, France
Location, location, location! Flaine is all about fabulous skiing that you can access quickly and is definitely perfect for a quick-hit, short ski break.  Although, Flaine is a fairly unattractive resort, built in the sixties, it offers a huge interlinked ski area (The Grand Massif) that makes for the perfect option for a weekend ski.
The Grand Massif speaks for itself and if you are a seasoned skier looking for your next buzz, you won’t be worried about the view of the resort, but excited for your next thrill!
What’s more, Flaine offers ski convenience from most of the accommodations and is, therefore, exactly what you need for a short ski break.
Mayrhofen, Austria
Despite its low altitude at 630 metres, Mayrhofen has one of the best snow records of an Austrian resort and is the perfect option for a short ski break for expert skiers.
The skiing is practically accessed from one main gondola out of town but, for this reason, in busy periods you can expect to queue. Therefore, we recommend Mayrhofen for short breaks during quieter periods to really make the most of your skiing opportunity.
