Planning on hitting the slopes this winter? here are five great reasons to visit Morzine:

1. Short transfer times

When you touch down at Geneva airport, it’s a wonderful feeling knowing that you’re only an hour and a quarter away from Morzine (for comparison, Courchevel is more than three and half hours away.) Such short transfer times means less time sat on a coach or minibus, and more time spent on the slopes - what’s not to love about that?

2. Enviable snow record

Morzine’s prime location means it always gets plenty of the white stuff. Nestled between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, Morzine enjoys its own micro-climate which helps ensure snow conditions stay excellent for the duration of the season, from early December, right through to spring.

The past few years have seen record snowfall in Morzine, with levels reaching way above average. Rather surprisingly, the snow depth at Morzine’s upper peaks outperforms Val d'Isère, despite being at a lower altitude.

3. So much skiing

Boasting 12 different alpine reports spanning two countries, Les Portes du Soleil is one of largest ski resorts in the world. Not only does this make it one the best resorts with regard to value for money, it’s also one of the most diverse.

Les Portes du Soleil’s 650km of pistes offer something to suit all abilities, with enough terrain and off-piste to keep even the most experienced of skiers and snowboarders entertained for weeks on end. There’s plenty on offer for beginners too, with around half of the runs in Les Portes du Soleil considered ‘easy’.

4. Apres ski

After coming down from a long day on the mountain, nothing lifts you back up again quite like an evening in one of Morzine’s many drinking establishments.

Bar Robinson’s is a popular destination with tourists and locals alike, serving super strength beers in a traditional atmosphere. For a more sophisticated experience, try the Coup de Cour wine and tapas bar, while the L’Opera nightclub or the Tibetan Cafe cater for the more hardcore party-goers out there. Morzine is just as varied by night as it is by day, so whatever your apres ski preference, you’re bound to have a good time.

5. Ideal for families

Morzine is the ideal winter holiday destination for families, due the sheer amount of activities on offer. From sledding to ice skating, there’s plenty of fun to be had beyond the obvious.

Where skiing is concerned, Morzine is excellently equipped for children wanting to try skiing or snowboarding for the first time, with many ski schools in the area willing to take children aged three and above.

There’s also an abundance of family restaurants in the area, and, and Morzine’s indoor swimming pools and cinema can offer a welcome distraction during down days.

As the above goes someway to highlight, Morzine offers some excellent skiing for all abilities, is a great resort for families, and is one of the most reliable areas in Europe when it comes to snow levels.
