Ellmau
Overview
Ellmau is a traditional and quiet village with plenty of welcoming bars & restaurants. The accommodation is quite spread out but served by an excellent bus service. As part of the SkiWelt region the skiing area is vast, linking seven resorts and providing a wealth of varied terrain. Experts will find only a few challenges here, but there are some steep descents and good off piste. The area is an intermediates paradise with lots of cruising and plenty of ground to cover, whilst beginners have a choice of nursery slopes and will progress quickly to the easy blues around the area. With a lot of the local slopes being quite gentle, learning to board here is recommended and cross country enthusiasts can explore the vast 170km of trails.
Offslope/apres ski
The relaxed village centre has a range of shops and is dotted with cosy bars and cafes all within easy walking distance of the centre. The Kaiserbad centre houses a swimming pool, sauna & steam-bath and for those looking for still more alternative activities there is tennis, squash, sleigh rides, curling, skittles and ice skating.
