Bad Gastein

Overview

Badgastein sits at the top of the Gastein valley and along with Bad Hofgastein offers a large ski area ideal for intermediates and above, there are beginners ski slopes in the village of Badgastein next to the main Gondola and some good blues on the Schlossalm and Stubnerkogel. Great for on or off piste skiing and in Badgastein the apres ski scene is a big draw for young partygoers.

Positive

  • Extensive ski area
  • Reliable snow
  • Thermal spas
  • Varied slopes

Negative

  • Valley split into 5 areas
  • Not ideal for beginners
  • Quite a confined setting

Offslope/apres ski

Badgastein is a mecca for apres ski lovers. Also for off slope diversions the Thermal Spa facilities are very good

Our View

Yet another Austrian resort that is under used and under valued by UK skiers. We seldom get asked for Badgastein and considering the snow record and the extensive ski area it is suprising.
