Flims/Laax
Overview
One of the largest linked ski areas in Switzerland with over 220kms of piste, Flims is a relaxed and low key resort offering excellent skiing. The nearby town of Laax has a younger and more vibrant feel to it with excellent apres ski.The resorts have rebranded thenselves Flims for the summer season and Laax for the winter season.......but we're old fashioned her at snowfinders.
The ski area extends from 1100m to a whopping 3020m and although it sits under the rada with British skiers it is a serious contender to the standard British perenials requests of Tignes, Les Arcs, Alpe d'Huez, etc. An ideal base for mixed ability parties as the resort lends itself to all abilities. The freeride area here is one of the best and the resort has a reputation internationally amongst the younger trendy set for skiing and boarding.
Flims-Laax is renowed for its excellent moiuntain restaurants, skis schools, and hire shops.
Most accommodation is in the form of hotels, however, the stunning "Rocks Resort" is a piste side black of ultra-moddern self catering accommodation.
Offslope/apres ski
Laax is an excellent apres ski destination with lots of bars and clubs – they tend to attractthe younger crowd but there are great apres options too for the more middle aged and mature guests. Flims is the quieter of the two resorts and most apres tends to be hotel bar based..
