Niseko Ski Holiday Resort

Niseko on the Northern island of Hokkaido and is very popular with Australian skiers and boarders. The reason people go to Japan is the reliable deep powder with over 50 ft annually, if you're looking for something different this is definitely for you. the cultural difference is big but this adds to the excitement and whilst the language barrier exists the locals are extremely polite, friendly, and welcoming. The pisted terrain is not on a par with Alpine steepness but it is ideal for beginners and intermediates. Expert skiers and skiers looking to hone their back country skills will find huge powder fields easily accessible from a vastly impriving lift system. The resort is comprised of three seperate ski areas interlinked via the shuttle bus system. Skiers and boarders come here for the powder and the snow is both reliable and deep but be warned it can snow, and snow, and snow for days on end. There are few off-slope diversions but the traditional town of Hirafu offers atmosphere in abundance with great restaurants, bars, hotels, and local pensions.

Offslope/apres ski

With the amount of Australians in the resort the après ski is very westernised with a number of manic après ski venues in the town. a great mix of East meets West!

For powder hounds and adventure seekers.
