The Hotel Flora is a cosy and convenient accommodation in the heart of Selva’s attractive centre, which delivers big on character and service. It’s a Tyrolean-style family-run hotel where no request is too much or too difficult to fulfil. Meals are home-cooked, filling and plentiful – the 4-course evening meals from the ever-changing menu are a real treat to look forward to after a long day of turns on the slopes. The rooms themselves are spacious and clean – entirely in-keeping with the rest of this gem of a hotel.
Location
When it comes to scenic skiing, Selva’s a resort that really brings it. Explore well-groomed slopes with UNESCO-protected views on all sides, and don’t miss ticking off the Sella Ronda circuit – a 26km-route of mainly reds and blues that loops some of the most dramatic mountains in the Dolomites. First-timers are well looked after too, with a big nursery area right by the main gondola. Add in shedloads of authentic mountain restaurants, and Selva serves up all the ingredients for the perfect ski trip.
The town also goes by the German name, Wolkenstein, and there’s a distinctive Austrian feel to things, from the food to lederhosen-clad locals. Spread along a wooded valley, it’s an easy-going place dotted with small, family-run hotels and restaurants. Lots of lunch spots also double-up as bars later on, and après here is all about drinks and nibbles.
Twin room – sleeps 2-3: Double bed or twin beds (may be Austrian twin beds), single sofa bed when booked for three people, private bath or shower and WC.
