San Cassiano Ski Holiday Resort
Overview
A delightful village on the magnificent Dolomiti Superski area, well positioned between La Villa and Cortina and close to the Armentarola, with its famous horse drawn ski lift. A stunning array of Dolomite peaks provides an amazing backdrop to the 1220 km of skiing, which is easily accessed from the resorts Piz Sorega gondola. San Cassiano is popular with Italians and British skiers alike, hence the proliferation of restaurants on the mountain.
One of the smallest, prettiest and quietest villages with access to the Sella Ronda circuit, it also has some very smart and comfortable hotels. Its local ski area has predominantly easy intermediate slopes and is very convenient for the famous Hidden Valley run. The Sella Ronda itself is an amazing circular network of lifts and pistes taking you around the Gruppo Sella - a mighty limestone massif with villages scattered around it. Individual runs are short; verticals of more than 500m are rare, while runs of under 300m are not. They are predominantly easy and there's scarcely a black run to be seen and very little off-piste. This is one of the few areas where we unreservedly welcome continuous sunny weather; the snowmaking is fantastic and we really don't want clouds and snow to interfere with our lunches gazing at the views.
