Hotel St Michael, Livigno

The ever popular Hotel St Michael racks up great reviews year on year and we can see why. Location is key on holiday and here you are only 200 metres from the Cassana lift, so easy access to the ski area. Those looking to venture to the other ski area, the nearest bus stop is just 20 metres from the hotel. The free resort bus goes around resort so getting into town couldn't be easier. If however you want to stretch your legs, it's about 300 metres to the pedestrianised zone in Livigno where you will find lots of shops, restaurants and bars.

The hotel itself is a traditional alpine property run by a friendly team who are always on hand to help. The recently renovated wellness area from the moment you step in to has an overcoming sense of relaxation and calmness to it. The beautiful stone floors, wooden interior and mixture of lighting throughout really is perfect after a day on the mountain. Inside you will find a Finnish sauna, whirlpool, Turkish bath, and loads more to help you recuperate.

Food plays an important part of any ski holiday and guests can expect traditional dishes Valtellinese cuisine mixed with Mediterranean flavours. To accompany this, an impressive 180 strong wine list is available for guests to enjoy.

To top things off, the hotel gives guests with a Winter card that provides a number of discounts throughout resort including at the Aquagranda leisure centre pool, perfect for families with children or perhaps if you want a swim each evening before dinner.

The wellness centre has been recently renovated and includes the usual things you would expect such as a Finnish sauna which heats up to 90 degrees Celsius, a 4-person whirlpool & the warm steam of a Turkish bath. Massages are also available at an additional charge. It also has a few new things we don't see too often, including the 'Ice Fall' which is very fine droplets of cold water with a mint aroma, great for a refreshing feeling. The other room we have to tell you about is the 'Salt Room', this is based on Halotherapy. Imagine lying down in a warmly lit room while small crystalline salt particles fill the air, giving you that feeling of lying on a beach. Believe it or not, this helps to eliminate stress, muscle tension as well as being antibacterial and anti-inflammatory for the body.

Meals

A vast buffet breakfast has all you need to prepare for a day on the mountain. Food in the evenings is delicious and plentiful. Four courses are served including menu choices. Help yourself to the additional salad and vegetable buffet. There's a weekly Valtellinese theme for a touch of tradition. Wash it down with a crisp wine from the extensive list.

Classic twin rooms are around 20m² and sleep two to three (third person on a single sofa bed). Rooms have a shower. All hotel bedrooms have a, TV, tea/coffee facilities, safe, minibar and hairdryer. Some will have a balcony, please ask at time of booking.

Superior twin rooms are around 24m² and sleep two to three (third person on a single sofa bed). Rooms have a bath or shower and a balcony.
