Kronplatz Ski Holiday Resort

Overview

Set in the Italian Dolomites, Kronplatz may well be the best destination in Europe for those wanting an efficient lift system, comprised almost entirely of gondolas, serving cruising on piste terrain. While many ski resorts comprise a base, with lifts leading to different slopes in varying directions, the opposite is true of Kronplatz. Instead, almost all lifts rise to the same place, a flattened cone from which you can descend almost every side. Enjoy the massive 1300m of vertical descent down 116km of pistes, including runs of up to 10km. These runs tend to suit beginner and intermediate skiers best, with a far more limited range of options for skiers seeking challenging terrain or off piste options. The pistes are well groomed and never overcrowded, making the resort ideal for all levels of skiers and particularly families and beginners. There are plenty of activities available such a sledging, snowshoeing and sleigh rides, and after a day on the slopes you’ll enjoy the selection of cosy bars and restaurants. It's also notable as one of the best railway served stations in Europe, with the train pulling up within throwing distance of a gondola base. From the station you can reach a number of other nearby ski areas, abate on separate lift passes.

Offslope/apres ski

Quiet après ski although there are a few fairly busy bars and hotels.

Resort activities include tobogganing, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, bowling, winter walking, and pony trekking.
