The family-run Hotel Kolfuschgerhof is in the pretty village of Colfosco, on the edge of Corvara. It's just 200m from the lifts so you're perfectly placed for the Sella Ronda. And when you've tackled the whole circuit you can relax in the excellent spa, which has an indoor pool, steam room, hot tub and no less than 4 different types of sauna to choose from. Once you've soothed those aching ski legs, there's a traditional 4-course Tyrolean meal waiting to refuel you for the following day.
Location
Colfosco’s part of the 130km Alta Badia ski area and is also smack-bang in the middle of the 1,220km Dolomiti Superski. The village has a fab ski school, and is surrounded by rolling blues that are perfect for beginners who’ve moved on from the nursery zone and green runs. As for everyone else, you can catch the lifts to neighbouring Corvara, Arabba or Selva Val Gardena for more challenging terrain. And for a big ski day, join the anti-clockwise loop of the Sella Ronda circuit – it has a few more lifts than the clockwise route, but it tends to be quieter too.
The little village is typically South Tyrolean, with an onion-domed church and chalet-style hotels that focus on good food and friendly service. Evenings are pretty quiet so you can spend your time feasting on Ladin food like dumplings and pasta, and chatting by the fire in your hotel’s bar.
