Hotel Kandahar

The Hotel Kandahar is a genuine alpine retreat. The warm atmosphere and Savoyard architecture oozes charm, comfort and well-being. This hotel is located on the vibrant main street of Val d'Isere, just a couple of minutes walk to the slopes. When you have returned from a day on the Tignes-Val d'Isere slopes, a cosy lounge bar with a fireplace is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink, or you can soothe any aches and pains in the hotels wellness area. Delicious evening meals are served each day featuring Savoyard classics.

The Hotel Kandahar exudes the charm of the Alps with its Savoyard-style décor, which include cosy wood, stone, and soft furnishings. The Hotel Kandahar is a fantastic option for families and groups of friends planning to spend the winter in France, as there are rooms which can accommodate up to four people.

When you have returned from an active day on the slopes, the Taverne d’Alsace bar and restaurant is the perfect spot to enjoy a cosy night in. Take a seat and enjoy a glass of wine from the varied wine menu or enjoy a traditional aperitif from Alsace. When it comes to dinner a three course evening meal is served each day with traditional regional dishes on offer. You can book a table and order from the extensive a la carte menu if you'd like to treat yourself to an evening meal (pay locally).

Location

Central location in Val d'Isere. 100 metres to the nearest bus stop . 450 metres to the ski lifts. 450 metres to the ski school meeting point and nursery slopes .100 metres to the ski hire shop over the road.

Meals

The Hotel Kandahar can be booked on either a bed and breakfast or half board, please specify when which you'd prefer at the time of booking.  Please note that half-board meals are not available for the weeks of the 20th Dec and 27th Dec 2025.

Each day a varied continental buffet breakfast with additional hot options is available between 7:30 - 10am.

The half board dinner includes a three course evening meal with a starter, main course with a choice of main (meat or fish) and dessert or cheese. Dinner is served from 7pm. Earlier meal times for children are available on request, as is a children's menu.

The Hotel Kandahar evening menu offers a pescatarian alternative each evening. If you are a vegetarian, we recommend booking bed and breakfast, then eating from the varied à la carte menu (pay locally). All other special dietary requirements cannot be catered for. Please inform us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Standard twin rooms are around 20m² and sleep two people. These rooms are also available for sole occupancy with a supplement.

Superior twin rooms are around 25m² and sleep two people.

Family quad rooms are around 30m² and sleep up to four people. These rooms have a twin beds or a double bed, and bunk beds in the entrance corridor (suitable for children up to 16 years old). Family rooms are available on request, please give our Reservations team a call to book.

Junior suites are around 30m² and sleep two people. These rooms have a small seating area. Junior Suites are available on request, please give our Reservations team a call to book.

Interconnecting rooms are available on request. Please note standard rooms will not fit a cot.

The Kandahar has an excellent central location on the main street of Val d’Isère.
