Montgenevre Ski Holiday Resort

Overview

One of the oldest resorts in France, Montgenevre is a pleasant traditional village set at one end of the large Milky Way ski area, only 2km from the Italian border. It gives you access to the linked resorts either by ski or by car, which can be quicker. The local slopes often tend to have the best snow in the region due to them being North facing and at a decent village height of 1850m. The village has benefitted from traffic being diverted to a tunnel between France and Italy and the majority of the accommodation is within 5 minutes of a lift. The main lifts are gondolas which travel out from either end of the village, both with access to pistes which link with Claviere and the other Milky Way resorts. The local slopes include many blue and green runs which are ideally suited to beginners and intermediates, some of which are in the woods. There are also some exciting off-piste descents for the more advanced skier.

With access to 400km of piste, the Milky Way is a huge ski area that rivals some of the main French areas but at a fraction of the cost.

Offslope/apres ski

The range of après- ski is limited but is informal and good value. There are various bars to choose from and the lively nightclub Bluenight is popular. There are also torchlight descents and a cinema.
