Hotel Petit Prince, Alpe d'Huez

Standing just 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Alpe d’Huez, the Hotel Petit Prince combines a great ski location with superb facilities and customer service all rolled up in a fantastic accommodation.

The Petit Prince is an excellent hotel run by Langley, Swedish hoteliers renowned for delicious food, fantastic service and providing a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Well located in the resort, at the top of one of the most demanding stages of the Tour de France, the shops and bars are a short walk away within easy reach, and the hotel's position on the mountain makes for pretty spectacular views over the valley. Your gateway to the mountain is at arm’s length too, with the nearest lift only 50m from the front door – you can pop on your skis and slide down to the chairlift in a proper ski-in, ski-out fashion.

The 43 bedrooms were completely renovated in recent years with a contemporary feel – they are a welcome place to return to after a long day on the mountain. What’s more, they all come with either mountain or valley views, in case you can’t bear to be without the beautiful scenery.

Head down to the bar for an après aperitif – which you can enjoy inside in the warm, or out on the terrace soaking up the sun – and for the twice-weekly bar quizzes, which are guaranteed to be a barrel of laughs.

For families, the hotel offers Childcare for children aged 6 months-11 years on selected season dates. Staff are fully-qualified and are all English-speaking, and are ready to help you maximise your ski break. Rest assured the childcare staff will keep your petit princes and princesses well entertained throughout the holiday.

The Hotel Petit Prince is host to Pepi Penguin Nursery and Beanie Bear Club, which are open to all children staying at the hotel or at certain accommodation in the resort.

Pepi Penguin Nursery (6 months – 4 years) is run by our UK-qualified childcare staff and held in a dedicated room equipped with games and toys. Outdoor play included (weather and parental consent permitting).

Activities vary daily. We'll find time for stories, singing, arts and crafts including painting and collage making, plus messy play in the sand tray and free play with age-relevant toys set out for the children to choose what they want to do.

We're also really keen to take in some fresh mountain air each day, so we aim to have an outdoor activity at least once a day – maybe snowy walks, a gondola ride or snow painting. And if your child is used to a sleep, we'll factor that in too.

Beanie Bear Club (4-8 years) provides plenty of fun-filled days as our childcare staff offer a combination of care and skiing, which includes 6 x AM ski lessons, pick-up and drop-off from ski lessons, lunch and afternoon care by staff in the dedicated Beanie Bear Club room.

Both Pepi Penguin Nursery and Beanie Bear Club operate for 6 days and must be pre-booked to guarantee a place. Evening clubs are also available to book in resort for an extra charge.

All our staff are UK-qualified, English-speaking and first-aid trained, and have had DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and reference checks. And we prioritise maintaining the correct adult:child ratios.
