The Hotel Alpenaussicht is the perfect hotel if you're after an all-round fantastic experience. Just a short walk from the centre of Obergurgl and virtually opposite the Festkogel gondola, the hotel is in a great location for skiing and exploring.
The hotel is built into the mountainside, so you'll enter via the main road to the top floor, where the reception, restaurant and bar are located. These areas are decorated in traditional Austrian style, and you'll be welcomed with excellent service from the Ribis family.
Quietly located away from the roads of Obergurgl, the rooms have views of the Ötz Valley or the surrounding peaks. The rooms range from great-value small twin rooms – perfect if you're just after a cosy base to get a good night's sleep – to the spacious superior twin rooms. All the rooms are tastefully decorated with modern touches to complement their classic style, and balcony rooms also offer great views of the valley. Plus, there's free WiFi throughout.
Whichever room you choose, you'll never be far from the Vital Spa, a wellness haven that’s home to herbal and Tyrolean saunas, Kneipp foot baths and massage showers. There's also a relaxation lounge with panoramic views. And in case the skiing hasn't worn you out, there's a fitness room with a selection of training equipment to help keep you in tip-top condition.
The food is simply delicious too – expect beautifully presented Austrian dishes that explore the best ingredients of the Tyrol, many sourced from the hotel's own farm.
Sitting towards the edge of town, the Alpenaussicht is in a good location between the main lifts. It's a 6-minute walk to the Festkoglbahn gondola, and 10 minutes' to the Rosskarbahn chairlift and Hohe Mut Bahn gondola. To get up the hill even quicker, you can walk 2 minutes to the Wiesenlift drag lift and then ski down Blue 6 to the Festkoglbahn. Blue 6 is also your closest run to home when you ski back at the end of the day. If you prefer a more challenging home run, take Red 12 instead.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.
Please note: A handful of the twin rooms (27m²) are located in the eaves of the property.
With glorious mountain views, the small and friendly Alpenaussicht is a welcome addition to the Obergurgl programme.
