Hotel Sonnblick, Kaprun

The family run Sonnblick Hotel does all the simple things well and so much more. The heated outdoor pool is a delight and a rarity for ski hotels. Coupled with the modern wellness area, it's a great spot to come back to after a day on the slopes.

The WiFi throughout the hotel is quick so you'll have no problem downloading your Go-Pro exploits each day. And the local Maiskogel lifts are only 500m up the road with the ski bus to the Kaprun glacier stopping just across the road. The location is in a slightly quieter part of town so no late night revellers disturbing your evenings yet only a short stroll to all the shops, bars and bistros of Kaprun town centre.

The Sonnblick is a superb family-run hotel offering a magnificent range of facilities. The modern and cosy superior rooms and suites are all finished to a high standard. The village centre, ski lifts and slopes are approximately 3-5 minutes' walk and the ski bus for the glacier and Zell am See stops virtually outside.

Kaprun’s a great pick for early or late-season skiing. The slopes on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier are some of the most snowsure in Austria – they’re easy to reach from the village too, just hop on the K-onnection gondola and you’re there.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.
