Gotzens and Axams
Overview
Situated on a scenic plateau just above Innsbruck, Götzens and Axams are two picturesque villages with traditional Tyrolean charm in the Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck ski area. Axams, the largest village on the plateau and its ski area, Axamer Lizum, have twice hosted the Olympic Winter Games. Götzens has its own local ski area, the Muttereralm, and is just a 20 minute free ski bus ride away from Axams. The proximity to Innsbruck make these villages ideal for combining some sightseeing with skiing on the nearby slopes. Try the Olympic Bobsleigh run, visit the Bergisel Olympic Ski Jump or explore Innsbruck’s old town with its famous Golden Roof, the cathedral, Imperial palace, not to mention the huge range of shops and cafés.
