Bansko Ski Holiday Resort
Overview
Bansko is Bulgaria's flagship ski resort. It was thrust into the international ski world with a huge marketing plan 10-15 years ago. Where Bulgarian hotels have lagged behind Alpine counterparts this is gradually changing and there is even a Kempinski 5 star (with a system whereby guests can jump teh gondola queue!). At the moment it is best suited to beginners and intermediates without the urge to cover big mileage, experts are better off elsewhere.
The resort now covers 70km of piste with an impressive vertical of 1610m. The resort gondola does get oversubscribed so expect queues peak season dates.
Offslope/apres ski
There is little to do for non skiers other than an extremely well recommended spa in the resort centre.
