Samoens

Overview

A lovely historic village which is traffic free with traditional shops lining the streets it is an archetypal "French" village. It is however a bus ride or drive to the two lifts that service the village. The ski area is the Grand Massif which is the area serviced by the better known resort (to the British) of Flaine. The area is an impressive one, with alot of excellent skiing for all levels to enjoy. The majority of  Samoens slopes are North facing so snow reliability is good.

Positive

  • Good value for money
  • A large and varied ski area
  • Plenty of tree lined skiing

Negative

  • Can be busy at French holiday time
  • Bus ride to the lifts
  • Quiet nightlife

Offslope/apres ski

The apres ski is relatively quiet with a couple of busy little bars that are popular and busy at the end of the day. Other off slope activities include skating, snowmobiling up at Samoens 1600 and snowshoeing

Our View

Traditional and pretty French resort but with the drawback of a bus ride to the lifts.
