Ruka

Overview

Ruka is 60kms South of the Arctic circle and 20kms west of Russia and is one of Finlands premier ski resorts. There over 200km of cross country ski trails amongst some the fantastic scenery. Downhill skiing is mainly suitable for beginners and early intermediates although there are some steeper Reds and Blacks on the western side of the mountain

Positive

  • Very pretty scenery
  • Excellent ski school
  • Lots of off slope activities

Negative

  • Can get very cold
  • Expensive to eat and drink

Offslope/apres ski

The best time to see the Northern Lights is between December and February. Why not learn to Telemark ski or try cross country. Apres ski is good fun with plenty of bars and music venues to visit.

Our View

Great first time resort but intermediates are not neglected.
