Can’t wait until next year for another ski adventure? Don’t be disheartened! Many resorts, in fact, close after the May bank holiday and, therefore, give you more opportunity to book a ski break before summer truly starts.

If you are looking for early May and summer ski opportunities, Kaprun, Saas Fee, Ischgl and Val d’Isere offer a fantastic line-up. Find out more about these ski resorts below:

Kaprun

In-Zell-Am-Zee Kaprun offers an exciting mix of Spring ski opportunity. Situated in Austria, just on hour away from Salzberg, in addition to triathlon camps, trail running camps and a water and glacier experience, you can still ski! Either opt for a special three days of sunshine skiing or a ’ski and golf’ package for those that would like to indulge in a combination of hobbies. Could there really be a better holiday for Spring?

Saas Fee

Skiing in Saas Fee is described as the coolest thing to do in summer. Open all year round, Saas Fee offers keen skiers the opportunity to practice their technique no matter what point it is in the season.

Many visitors are excited by the fact you might just spot national and international ski teams honing their skills on the slopes, and are impressed by Saas Fee’s long opening hours and 20km of diverse glacier pistes.

Ischgl

Catch the end of the winter snow in Ischgl early May and you can be sure to have a Spring break that will end your ski season on a high.

With an extremely short waiting time on the slopes and absolutely fabulous fun parks, Ischgl is a top choice of ski location for early May.

Val d’Isere

Val d’Isere is a hugely popular ski resort and is equally popular in early May. The resort is a particularly great choice for May when it has had a lot of snowfall throughout the winter.

Why ski in summer?

The bullet points below are just a few reasons why it really is great to ski in summer!

  • Pleasant temperatures
  • Quieter slopes
  • A great chance to practice!
  • A fun choice of summer holiday!

What to take with you for summer skiing

  • T-shirts and fleeces. Although, you’ll warm up when you get skiing, a fleece will be much appreciated when you are on the ski lift or in shaded spots. What’s more, your t-shirt will get damp, so take lots of spares!
  • Sun cream. Opt for high-factor and waterproof.
  • Goggles or sunglasses. The sun’s rays are strong at altitude and could, of course, be more harmful in summer than winter.
  • Ski helmet. It’s simple. A ski helmet is essential.
