The ski region of Tignes-Val d’Isere, formally known as the Espace Killy, if one of the world’s largest, best, and most snowsure. With skiing from 1550m to 3456m it boasts a huge vertical and a long season that begins at the end of November and finishes in May, although summer skiing is possible on the Grande Motte glacier above Tignes and sometimes on the Pisaillas glacier above Val d’Isere. The domain covers 300km of piste and some of the world’s best of-piste too. Whilst Val d’Isere is a valley floor resort with three main villages (Val itself, La Daille, and Le Fornet), Tignes has 4/5 main villages at varying heights. These are namely Les Brevieres at 1550m, Tignes 1800 at 1800m, Le Lavachet at 2100m, Le Lac at 2100m, and Val Claret at 2300m. The region’s lift system is also one of the best in the world with queues being an absolute rarity even at peak periods.
The Apres ski in the area is not to be sniffed at either with well-known bars and clubs including (Val d’Isere) Le Petit Danois, Le Salon, Dick’s Tea bar, The Doudoune, Le Salon, Cocorico, Chez Jules (Coin des Amis), Victors, La Taverne, La Folie Douce, and the Underground. Whilst Tignes boasts La Couloir, Brasero, Loop Bar, Le Moose, Cocorico, 247, Marmot Arms, Box Café, and La Queue.
