Spotlight on Champoluc, Italy
Also known as the Monterosa, Champoluc in Italy is undoubtedly one of Snowfinders’ favourite ski resorts.
The resort is actually a bit of a hidden gem. Not many people know about the resort (until we tell them here at Snowfinders!). What’s more, Champoluc is characterised by beautiful scenery and empty pistes, which makes for an idyllic ski experience.
We describe the resort as truly ‘undiscovered’, with quiet slopes, an incredible luxury spa and excellent off-piste skiing.
So, let’s take a closer look at Champoluc in Italy...
The Village
Champoluc is a traditional, attractive village with a relaxed, Italian feel. Many of the properties in the village are owned by families from the nearby cities of Turin and Milan. This means that the village is lively and animated at the weekends and the ski resort gets busier then too.
The Skiing

The ski area is made up of three different towns Champoluc, Gressoney La Trinite and Alagna.
The nursery slopes in Champoluc cater for beginners and are situated at the Crest which is above the village. With two moving carpets, complete beginners will enjoy learning to ski and snowboard board here, although they may have trouble finding suitable, more challenging runs to progress to.
For intermediates, Champoluc is the ski area for you! Long cruises down into the valley and very little skiers around, skiing in Champoluc is an absolute dream (especially on a sunny morning!).
If you are a skiing expert and often ski off-piste, then you’ll love skiing at the Monterosa. Many of the off-piste runs in the Monterosa have earned legendary status. They’re steep, challenging and great fun. Of course, we recommend skiing off-piste with an expert local guide.
For those wanting the ultimate thrill, heli-skiing is an option near the Champoluc resort too.
The Après-ski

Quiet during the week but more lively on the weekends, if you like to party hard after a day on the slopes then Champoluc probably isn’t the ski resort for you. That said, there are a number of restaurant and hotels that make for an enjoyable evening out. What’s more, the brand new health spa is definitely worth a visit!
The Resort Accommodation
We have a range of resort accommodation in Champoluc on the Snowfinders website. Here are three examples that will undoubtedly make for pleasant accommodation during your stay at the resort:
Chalet hotel de Champoluc
You really could not ask for a better location offered by the Chalet Hotel De Champoluc. Set at the skiers’ end of the village, in a ski-in-ski-out location, you’ll have an exciting, comfortable ski experience that will have you hitting the slopes as soon as you leave the front door.
Breithorn

Chalet Hotel Breithorn is full of charm. It is a lovely, traditional hotel which has been beautifully restored and modernised, yet still features all the traditional Alpine features and character.
The spacious lounge and reception area is extremely welcoming, with a warm open fire, wooden vaulted ceilings and comfortable furniture. Lovely!

Hotel Relais des Glaciers
A centrally positioned 4-star hotel just off the main square in Champoluc, the Hotel Relais des Glaciers was constructed 6 years ago and has become one of the resorts most popular hotels.
It offers a very good standard of accommodation, complemented by an extensive health complex (that is the best in the resort!).
So that’s our spotlight on Champoluc, Italy-hopefully see you there soon!
