If you are looking for the perfect location for family skiing this Christmas, then look no further than La Rosiere. Situated in South East France, high above the quaint little town of Bourg -St-Maurice, La Rosiere is near to the well-known resorts of Val d’Isere and Tignes.

La Rosiere is marketed directly at families due to the fact it offers an excellent variety of skiing for all different abilities, as well as being slightly quieter than its neighbouring ski resorts.

Mixed ability skiing

If you’ve got a range of ages within your family, a resort with mixed ability skiing is essential. At La Rosiere, younger skiers can take advantage of the established ski programmes at and enjoy gentler slopes, while expert skiers will fly on the numerous off-piste opportunities. At 1850m, La Rosiere is snow sure, although good piste skiers may feel a little limited by a smaller amount of more challenging piste runs.

Excellent ski school programmes and childcare

There are some excellent ski school programmes from ESF and Evolution2 ski schools available at La Rosiere for children who are old enough to get their first hit of the slopes (and adults looking to hone their skills!). What’s more, there is plenty of childcare available for those children not yet ready to give skiing a go.

Catered Chalets

Chalets offer an excellent accommodation option for families and, at La Rosiere, there are numerous catered chalets available for hire. There are also some self-catered chalets available, as well as a limited number of hotels.

Convenient

La Rosiere is a very close-knit resort and you never have to wonder far to get to the nearest ski lift. There is also a free bus available for littler legs. What’s more, you may feel confident to let older children roam free whilst skiing in this smaller resort. Larger resorts, on the other hand, may be a little more daunting.

Further Entertainment

If your children are the full-of-energy type and not completely exhausted after a day on the slopes, then they’ll be impressed by the bowling alley and ice rink that can be found on the short and floodlit walk of Les Eucherts. There are also numerous pubs and restaurants situated along this strip.
