Heavenly Ski Holiday Resort
Overview
Heavenly gets huge snowfalls over the season and what makes the resort unique are its borders California and Nevada. The rustic ski lodges of California soon give way to the gambling palaces of the Nevada side. The skiing is legendary and for experts try the Gunbarrel run with twists and turns as it makes its way under the chairlift. Intermediate skiers are equally well catered for with the easy Ridge run through to some of the more testing areas on the Milky Way Bowl. For beginners Lake Tahoe has some great areas to learn and progress to.
The views across Lake Tahoe and the distant Nevada desert are sublime, which compensates for poor on mountain dining. The ski terrain is huge at 4800 acres with something for everyone. Lots of cheap lodging makes this a bood US destination for the more budget conscious.
Offslope/apres ski
For gamblers Lake Tahoe is a dream but if that is not your thing, try the hot air ballooning, snow shoeing and snowmobiling. Apres ski is varied and busy
