  • An excellent range of luxury ski apartments and hotels for all tastes and budgets
  • A top-quality service
  • We can give you all the advice and info you need so you pick the perfect ski hotels in 2017, and beyond

Why Choose a Ski Hotel?

There are many reasons to book a hotel, including:

  • You don’t have to worry about meals, as you’re fully catered for with half-board/full-board meals
  • Childcare and good onsite leisure facilities, such as restaurants, bars and nightclubs
  • Save cash when you’re on resort in low season and Easter, so you get more for your money

A Great Range of Facilities

With the more modern day luxury ski hotels, you can enjoy all the luxuries, such as hot tubs, hammams, saunas, steam rooms, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, treatment rooms, climbing walls, squash courts, gyms, organised activities for the kids and lots more.

Hotel Gradings

Gradings of hotels can vary vastly. To be honest, you can take with a pinch of salt some of the gradings in the Italian resorts. Equally, we tend to find that Austrian and Swiss hotels offer more for their respective gradings than the French hotels. However, don’t get het up about gradings; Snow Finders has stayed in charming hotels graded at just 2 star that would put many a 4-star hotels to shame. We’re not too sure if the same applies as The French have recently relooked at the gradings, however, it was previously impossible for a hotel to get any further than a 2-star grade if rooms didn’t have direct-dial telephones or the hotel had no lift - regardless of its quality of cuisine, service, and facilities!

Ski Apartments

Ski apartments tend to sleep less people than chalets and are wonderful for smaller groups of friends. Generally, skiing apartments sit close to the slopes and lifts and are often (even better!) just a stone’s throw from the pistes. Luxury ski apartments are widely available in most resorts, offering ample space and flexibility. You can choose to be as near or far away from the resort centre as you like.  We offer several options, including:

  • Budget apartments
  • Ski apartments close to pistes
  • Luxury ski apartments
  • Apart-hotels with swimming pools

Why Choose a Ski Apartment?

Opting for a ski apartment is a wonderful way to enjoy a skiing break, purely because…

  • You have far more flexibility, i.e. you can eat in or out as you please
  • There’s a great variety of apartments available, including high-end apartments to more budget options
  • Apartments are generally easy-on-the-pocket
  • Modern ski apartments offer an awful lot more space
  • Most apartments include hot tubs, saunas, swimming pools (perfect after a hard day on the slopes!)
  • Unlike chalets, apartments are suitable for just you and your travel buddies (no one will see you parading around in your dressing gown!)

A History

Ski apartments started life as small French-styled "shoe box or "rabbit hutch" apartments. These budget options usually offered ski convenience but at the expense of comfort. In many cases the apartments would have two guests sleeping on sofa-beds in the lounge, two in bunk beds in the tiny entrance area and maybe two in a tight bedroom off the lounge. Hanging and drying space would be almost non-existent and the kitchen would be a minuscule kitchenette area with just two hot rings and inadequate cooking utensils.

What do Ski Apartments Look Like Now?

By contrast, the new apartments being built across the Alps (by companies such as MGM, CGH, La Grange, and Intrawest) are of the 4 star and 5-star end of the market. These constructions are much smarter using locally sourced wood and slate to harmonise with the immediate surroundings. The units are Alpine looking with pitched roofs and stone facades.

What’s Inside a Ski Apartment?

Internally, there’s usually a communal reception and relaxation area complete with leisure facilities that wouldn’t look out of place in any modern 4-star hotel. You can expect swimming pools, hot tubs, games rooms, hammams, saunas, and much more. The actual apartments are mostly furnished with a rustic-contemporary fusion of design and furnishings. Rooms are larger, with the facilities in the kitchen being much better, featuring proper ovens, cookers, microwaves, dishwashers, and coffee makers.

Self-catering options in France are abundant but they are less so in Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. In Canada and the USA, the self-catering options take place in the form of Condos, which are usually apart-hotels. Snow Finders has a huge range, so please feel free to browse our site or better still, call us for advice as not all our units are online.

The Benefits of Ski Apartment and Ski Hotels

Ski hotels and ski apartments are the more traditional way to enjoy your fix of the white stuff. Whilst hotels will range from the 2 to the 5 star, apartments have always been of a more economical specification - now that has all changed. The modern apartments offer more spacious accommodation and a range of facilities that challenge the upper market of ski hotels with swimming pools, reception lounges, saunas, hot tubs and other onsite facilities.

Many of the hotels offer a homelier environment and, especially in Austria, these are likely to be family run businesses of many years. Hotels can range from bed and breakfast, to half board, to full board, to all inclusive. Call Snow Finders for expert advice on ski hotels and ski apartments.

Feeling Social?

Alternatively, if you’re up for a social holiday with a bunch of friends, a chalet could be a great option. Catered ski chalets are a staple when it comes to the British skiing scene. They’re basically private houses or ski apartments that come complete with staff or someone who cooks and cleans – and range from luxury cabins to what are essentially private five-star ski hotels. They’d suit groups of friends, bargain hunters and beginners (who’d appreciate skiing tips from staff and other more experienced skiers). Chalets, unlike apartments and hotels, are less private, and wouldn’t really fit the bill for couples who prefer their privacy.
