Skiing Breaks in USA

The USA became an increasingly popular ski destination with the British skier about 10 years ago due to a period of unreliable snow in Europe. This still remains the main driving force for travelling that distance.

The main area that the British take their Ski Holidays is Colorado with resorts such as Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat, Winter Park and Keystone.
The American ski holiday offers excellent snow conditions, quiet pistes, high standards of service, and immaculate piste grooming. Visitors will be struck by the Wild West feel to many of the resorts. The standards of ski school, lift services and quality of the runs keeps people returning to the USA year after year. The only down side would be the 10 hour flight from the UK and the increased cost .
Many resorts are not as large as the European ski areas however travelling between resorts is relatively simple. The resorts of Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek and Keystone can all be skied on the same lift ticket and the distance between all of the above is only an hour.
The East coast is a popular choice for family skiing as the shorter flight time is easier for young children to cope with, Ally this with the excellent standards of instruction and resorts such as Killington, Stowe and Sunday River are an ideal family ski holiday destination.

Accommodation in the USA is generally centred around hotels and condo properties. US hotels are based on an accommodation only basis leaving people the option to eating in the hotel restaurant or around the many resort restaurants..
Condos are popular with British visitors as families and groups can be self contained and either cook for themselves or eat out.
There are a few chalets in certain resorts but these are thin on the ground and early booking of American ski chalets is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Overall the US remains a popular destination for reliable snow , quality accommodation and levels of service not experienced in Europe.
