Italy is becoming increasingly popular with the British ski market. Due to a variety of factors not least of which is value for money. Further east is the magnificent Sella Ronda Dolimiti ski area which takes in the resorts of Selva, Arabba, Cotina d’Ampezzo, Canazei and Corvara. Also the resorts of Madonna di Campiglio, Passo Tonale and Bormio which are located more centrally are also well worth visiting For that true Italian ski holiday experience. The Italian attitude to skiing is very relaxed and not too serious with late starts long lunches and early finishes. Which is ideal for the rest of us leaving the slopes quiet at all but the busiest times of year.

A lot of the resorts become popular at weekends, as the big city residents tend to move up to the mountains at weekends during the season. Eating and drinking on the mountain in Italy is a lot cheaper than many other alpine countries and food quality is excellent even in the most humble of restaurants. The available accommodation in Italy is mainly in Hotels with a few self catered accommodations. However, for the Brits there are very few catered chalets operated in Italy.
