Val d'Isere Ski Holiday Resort

Overview

Val D’Isere is an elongated resort that becomes more attractive as you move towards the centre. There is a huge selection of accommodation suiting most budgets and an extremely efficient bus service which means that slope access is quite easy even for the non ski in ski out properties. The ski area is split into three distinct areas, two of which are reachable from the village. It is easily linked with Tignes. There are a huge variety of pistes and it generally considered to be one of the best resorts in the world for both intermediates and experts with an enormous selection of slopes for different abilities and styles. The off-piste skiing is considered to be un-rivalled suiting both the adventurous intermediate and the experts. The nursery slopes immediately around the resort are good but can be a little tricky at the very top but beginners can progress quickly to the gentle green slopes on the Solaise area. The green runs can often be mis-signed and should sometimes be blue.

Offslope/apres ski

There are good leisure facilities, a great range of shops in the centre of Val D’isere and the tourist office runs different evening events during the season. The mountain restaurants are limited and can get quite crowded. Eating out in resort is a different story with a great variety of restaurants suiting all tastes and budgets. Equally there is a great selection of bars with happy hours and music.
