La Rosiere Ski Holiday Resort

Overview
La Rosiere in the Tarantaise is fortunate in having a good snow record, the southerly aspect makes for some sunny home slopes but the heavy snow can sometimes lead to the links with Italy being shut. The resort struggles to challenge experts and the best blacks are down from the resort, between the pisted runs there is some good off-piste and heli-skiing for the more adventurous. Intermediates will find plenty of runs to explore, you can take a chair up from either end of the village and then the area opens up with a variety of blues and reds. In La Rosiere itself and just along the road in the new enclave of Les Eucherts there are good nursery runs for beginners to learn on. Snowboarders will find few chairs and the slopes are great for beginners and early intermediates. There are 5km of trails for cross-country skiers up at the altiport.
Positive
- Scenic resort
- Sunny south facing aspect
- Great off-piste
- Good for families
- Good for intermediates
- Caters well for beginners
- Heli-skiing possible
Negative
- Quieter apres ski but getting busier
- Limited expert runs
- Wind can affect links to Italy
Offslope/apres ski
Although La Rosiere does not pretend to be one of the liveliest ski resorts it has a reputation for being one of the friendliest and is great for families. There are a few restaurants and bars to while away the hours after skiing and the Relais du Petit St Bernard is recommended. Away from the slopes there is a cinema, an indoor climbing wall and the opportunity to try snowshoeing or parapenting.
